Cannabis plants have the ability to effectively uptake elements from the media that their roots come into contact. This is of a concern if non-certified and untested soils are used. MassDPH requires that all finished plant material, cannabis resin, or cannabis concentrate must be tested for Arsenic, Cadmium, Mercury, and Lead.

Viridis follows USP <233> protocol which employs closed-vessel microwave-assisted acid digestion and analysis by an Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS). We are the only laboratory in Massachusetts that also examines Mercury concentrations using an ICP-MS equipped with a flow injection Mercury system (ICP-FIMS-MS). Viridis is also able to inform you what species of Arsenic and Mercury may be in your product using HPLC-ICP-MS.

Our ICP-MS instrument can also provide you an expansive list of macro- and micro- nutrients present in your soil, water, or plants. Please contact us to learn more about testing the environmental media used in your growing process.
